This is Me!

I’m just a college student trying to get by. Born and raised in the heartland of America. Lived in the South for a year and have an insatiable desire to travel,  but my heart will always be in a small Midwestern town no matter where I’m at. I have a lot of thoughts, in fact my mind runs 1000 mph most of the time. I’m constantly thinking about the world around me. “I dwell in possibility”–Emily Dickinson. I enjoy writing and feel that it is the only way I have of attempting to organize my thoughts. I play guitar and sing. Writing music is also a great outlet.

I’m a pre-med student working my way towards med school to become a pediatrician, but I’m in no hurry. I have so many other things I want to do.

I’m not an ordinary girl by any means. I do things my way without worrying about people thinking I’m strange.

I’m convinced that if everyone loved each person that they came in contact with, the world would be a better place.

I wish I could tell you that I’m simple and easy to understand, but that would be a lie.  And actually, I’m glad that I can’t tell you that.

I believe in human rights. Discrimination against an individual based on race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, etc. is the epitome of ignorance.

Conversation keeps me motivated so I’m always willing to discuss topics of all natures. I thrive off of intellectual interaction. I love a good cup of coffee and a great talk!

One of the best books I’ve ever read that has helped me SO much!
The Journey by Peter Kreeft! Please read it. I got it from my Worldviews class, I go to a christian school so it is right on theology and doctrine

I think I’m definetely going to enjoy this site much. As far as being a perfectionist and a word nut, we have much in common. Thank you so much for commenting on my blog, you are a wonderful person, I can already tell.

  • Sarah Robison  On December 1, 2009 at 6:31 am

    Sarah…
When you were a little girl did you ever get on the merry-go-round? And did you ever let someone spin you round and round and round and round and round?
…Do you remember that moment when you would find just enough of ‘something’ so that you could yell out — “please, someone stop this thing and let me off!”
    ??
    Me too.
    That’s what I call 1000 mph!
    Scary :)

  • Sarah Robison  On December 4, 2009 at 10:58 pm

hahaha Yep I’m familiar with that feeling. Although, it was definitely a tire swing for me! : )

you want to be a pediatrician eh? that’s awesome. i’m working towards my RN (it’s a slow process). i plan on specializing in pediatrics. i plan on working at the children’s hospital columbus. good luck with school!

  • Sarah Robison  On March 1, 2010 at 8:49 am

Yes, anything in the medical or health care field seems like it’s a long road to get there, but totally worth it in the end. I have a desire to practice foreign medicine and go on medical missions to impoverished countries, but I would always love to work at Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis. Good luck with your studies!!

    Sarah,

I am just now starting my pediatrics residency after taking time to do work internationally, get my MPH, conduct research abroad, etc. If I can ever be of assistance to you as you navigate your way from a pre medical student into the world of medicine please don’t hesitate to contact me!

    All the best,
    Leana

  • Sarah Robison  On April 2, 2010 at 10:14 am

    Leana,
That is so incredibly kind of you! Thank you so much. I’m curious though, what kind of international work did you do? I want to go abroad so badly.
